Artwork
As a new client, you may not be aware of the type and quality of art work required to enable us to supply printed balloons that you can pass on to your customers. Following are problems we have encountered, and solutions.
Problems
The problems fall into three main areas:
The artwork supplied is too small to enlarge sufficiently and maintain quality to give an acceptable print.
The quality of the artwork supplied is too poor to reproduce.
The artwork consists of multiple colours, when the print is to be a one ink color.
To enable us to give you the quality you deserve, the artwork should be supplied as per the following. We have a computerised, in-house, artwork department; if you cannot supply artwork as per the following, for an additional charge we can create or enhance your artwork for you.
Size
Art work supplied to us for reproduction must be similar in size to the end print size.Business cards, logos off letterheads, art work cut off other advertising material will all result in artwork enhancement charges & take time to complete. Our printed image size is approx 160mm x 160mm on most balloons so the artwork needs to be approximately this size, the smaller it is initially, the morethe quality deteriorates when blown up to final size.
Quality
Even when the size is right, the quality is equally important. Faxes, photocopies, and "half tone" images printed on a laser printer or bubble jet printer will not reproduce graphically for printing on balloons. BLACK & WHITE gives the best results
Colour
Multi coloured art work will not reproduce to a single colour accurately. Some colours will dominate the reproduction, while others will drop out completely so in some cases, a logo, or client name could have essential parts missing.
Our Requirements
What do we need to give you a good print?
Text & Lines
If the art work is only text or solid lines and solid graphics, we require:
A Bromide,
Laser Print
Or Good Quality Bubble-Jet Print
All Line Art
No tonal qualities of the correct size is fine and will give a good reproduction, but please NO lines smaller than 0.5mm or type smaller than 12 point as they will not print as a readable image.
Half Tone Images
Half tone images can be printed both as a fill or as a highlight on their own, but the dot spacing can be no finer than 30 dots per centimeter or 75 dots per inch. This is usually only attainable on high quality bromides. The normal computer printers print at 300 dots per inch which is far too fine for balloon printing.
Black & White Photo
A plain black and white print with no colour is the only way to be sure of getting the entire image.
